To source, cook and serve fresh fish and shellfish in Oxford, so far from the sea, would be too difficult for many a restaurateur. But not Fishers, now established as the town's best fish and seafood restaurant. The atmospheric interior resembles a stylish ship's cabin - wooden floors, benches and lanterns, and so forth. Fresh fish is shipped in daily to ensure a wide choice of fresh seasonal shellfish platters. Even now there is excitement opening the ice-packed delivery boxes...Everything is delicious, but starters of tempura tiger prawns and grilled scallops are particularly recommended, as are whole baked lemon sole with a lime and dill beurre blanc, and seared yellow fin tuna steak with mixed leaves and red onion confit. Beautiful.

"Had a nice dover sole to share for two. The meal was as expected, very good. Last time we eat there was in 1996 so we went back to remind our selves of the past. Only thing I'll say is *** keep the menu you order from ***. We expected a bill for 23 for the fish, only to find another menu placed on the table behind us when the bill was presented but this one stated it was per person!
